$560,000 Grant Awarded for CANS Research and Development

The Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) of the United States Department of Education has awarded the University of Missouri-Columbia a three-year grant to advance the use of CANS and evaluate the impact of its use upon teaching and learning experiences, practices and achievements. The primary goals will be to tightly integrate CANS into Sakai and develop ways to represent and manage notifications as well as ways that instructors can use awareness information to improve teaching and learning. Collaborators at the University of Michigan and Virginia Tech will assist in guiding the project and helping evaluate the impact of the newly developed functions.
