2006 - 5th Sakai Conference - Vancouver, BC, Canada: conference presentation

Using CANS to Deliver Notifications and Visualize User Activity in Sakai

In June 2006, Paul Turner and I gave a presentation on recent CANS-related research and development at the 5th Sakai conference in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

The 90 minute session explained how Sakai Universities could use CANS to collect and present activity information to users both inside and outside of Sakai and presented work on how data collected by the CANS system could be used to analyze and visualize both instructor and student activities that occur in Sakai courses and project sites. A quicktime movie of our presentation's slides are available here.

In addition to this presentation, Paul, Dave and I presented the CANS system, revealed the latest Desktop Awareness Widget, and demonstrated techniques for visualizing CANS activity data. The EyeOnSakai4.widget we demonstrated is available in Downloads.
